South Korea shows the same nationality-over-residency pattern as Japan: Emirati passport holders can travel visa-free for short stays under a UAE–Korea agreement, and are additionally covered — for now — by South Korea's temporary exemption from its K-ETA travel-authorisation scheme. Most other nationalities resident in the UAE still need to apply for an actual Korean visa in person.
Emirati passport holders may enter South Korea visa-free for stays of up to 90 days under a bilateral UAE–Korea arrangement, and — under South Korea's currently-extended K-ETA temporary exemption (running through 31 December 2026) — do not currently need to pre-register for a K-ETA either, though they may still apply for one voluntarily to skip the paper arrival card on landing. This exemption has been extended on a rolling, year-by-year basis rather than made permanent, so confirm it is still in force close to your travel date.
UAE residents who need a full Korean visa apply through the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Dubai. Jurisdiction is split by residence emirate, not nationality: Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Al Dhafra or Al Ruwais residents apply at the Abu Dhabi Embassy, while Dubai and Northern Emirates residents apply at the Dubai Consulate General.

Not through a UAE-wide online portal at present; you need to apply for a standard South Korean visa in person at either the Korean Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General in Dubai, depending on which emirate issued your UAE residence visa.
Sharjah, along with Dubai and the other Northern Emirates, falls under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Dubai, not the Abu Dhabi Embassy.

If You've Been Refused Before
A previous refusal — for South Korea or elsewhere — doesn't rule out reapplying. We review the refusal letter, identify the gap, and rebuild your file to address it directly. No service can guarantee the outcome, but a stronger file is always worth preparing.
