Thailand Visa from the UAE — What Actually Applies to You

Thailand changed two things that matter to UAE-based travellers: the length of visa-free stays was reduced in 2026, and every single arrival — visa or not — must now complete a digital arrival card before landing. Both catch out travellers who last visited a few years ago.

Does this depend on my passport?

Thailand's entry rules run on passport nationality. Many Western passport holders enter under a visa exemption. Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Filipino and several other nationalities living in the UAE do require a visa, applied for in advance or obtained on arrival where eligible.

Where the application is lodged

Applications are made through Thailand's official e-Visa system, handled from the UAE by the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai.

Key points for Thailand applications

  • The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is mandatory for all travellers and replaced the old paper TM6 card — complete it online before you fly, whether or not you need a visa.
  • The Thai cabinet approved reducing the visa-free stay from 60 to 30 days on 19 May 2026, so an older itinerary built around a 60-day stay may no longer be valid.
  • Where a visa exemption applies, a 30-day stay can generally be extended once at an immigration office inside Thailand.
  • Visa applications are submitted through the official Thai e-Visa platform rather than by walk-in.
  • Onward or return travel and proof of funds are commonly checked, so keep both readily available at the airport.

What goes wrong most often

  • Skipping the TDAC because a previous trip only required a paper card on the plane.
  • Planning a 45- or 60-day trip on a visa exemption that now permits 30 days.
  • Using a third-party site that mimics the official Thai e-Visa portal.

Thailand visa questions we get from UAE residents

Do UAE residents need a visa for Thailand?

It depends on your passport. Many Western passport holders enter under a visa exemption. Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Filipino and various other nationalities resident in the UAE do need a visa, either applied for in advance through the official Thai e-Visa system or obtained on arrival where their nationality is eligible.

What is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card and do I need one?

The TDAC is an online pre-arrival registration introduced in 2025 that replaced the paper TM6 card. It applies to every traveller entering Thailand, including those who do not need a visa. Complete it online before departure.

How long can I stay in Thailand without a visa?

For nationalities covered by the exemption, the Thai cabinet approved reducing the visa-free stay from 60 to 30 days on 19 May 2026. A 30-day exemption stay can usually be extended once at an immigration office within Thailand. Confirm the current allowance for your nationality before booking.

Can I apply for a Thai visa from Dubai?

Yes. Thailand's e-Visa system accepts applications based on where you reside, so UAE residents apply from here through the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate-General in Dubai.

Rules change without notice. Fees, processing times and eligibility vary by nationality and are set by the destination authority, not by us. Always confirm the current position with the official source before you book travel. Royal Thai Government — official e-Visa portal

Applying for a Thailand Visa — What You Should Know

A quick guide to who this suits, what we take care of, what stays with you, and how to avoid the mistakes that most often slow an application down.

What You're Responsible For

  • Provide genuine, up-to-date documents (passport, bank statements, employment proof)
  • Sign the completed application form
  • Attend the VFS/embassy appointment and biometrics if the destination requires it
  • Cover the government/consulate fee directly — this is separate from our service fee

Common Mistakes We Help You Avoid

  • Submitting a passport with less than 6 months' validity
  • Bank statements that don't match the declared income or show large unexplained deposits
  • Photos that don't meet the destination's exact size/background specification
  • Inconsistent names or dates across passport, form, and supporting documents
  • Applying without a clear, honest travel purpose reflected in the cover letter

If You've Been Refused Before

A previous refusal — for Thailand or elsewhere — doesn't rule out reapplying. We review the refusal letter, identify the gap, and rebuild your file to address it directly. No service can guarantee the outcome, but a stronger file is always worth preparing.
