UAE 5-Year Multi-Entry Tourist Visa: Who It Suits
A long-standing UAE visa category that many visitors still don't know exists — five years of validity, multiple entries, and no local sponsor required.
A Category That Is Often Overlooked
The UAE's five-year multiple-entry tourist visa is not new. It was approved by the UAE Cabinet back in 2021 as part of a wider push to make the country easier to visit for tourism and business. What has changed since is the volume of people using it, and clarification from the authorities on how it is administered.
If you have relatives or business contacts who visit the UAE several times a year, this is very often the category they should be using instead of repeatedly applying for short-stay visas.
What the Category Offers
- Validity: five years from the date of issue
- Entries: multiple
- Sponsor: no local host or sponsor required
- Administered by: the ICP (Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security) and the GDRFA in Dubai
Permitted length of stay per visit, extension rules and the exact fee are set by the issuing authority and are subject to change. Check the current position on the official portal before applying — we have deliberately not quoted a figure here that could be out of date by the time you read it.
Who It Actually Suits
- Family members who visit UAE residents several times a year
- Business travellers with recurring meetings in the Emirates
- Frequent visitors who are tired of reapplying for each trip
It is generally not the right choice for a one-off holiday, where a standard short-stay visa is simpler and cheaper.
What Applicants Are Usually Asked For
Applications are made through the ICP website or smart app, or via GDRFA channels in Dubai. Applicants are typically asked to evidence financial means and hold valid health insurance. Exact requirements vary, and the authorities update them periodically.
Important
Approval is at the discretion of the UAE authorities. Meeting the published criteria does not guarantee issuance, and a refusal does not normally refund the fee.
