Applying Through VFS Global in Dubai: Centres, Lounges and What to Expect
Dubai hosts one of the world's largest visa application centres. Know which centre and operator handle your destination to avoid a wasted trip.
Dubai's Visa Application Infrastructure
Dubai opened what was described as the world's largest visa application centre in May 2025, operated with VFS Global. It supports a large number of governments and handles a very high daily application volume, with premium submission counters available alongside standard ones.
The main hub sits in the Oud Metha area near Wafi City and handles applications for the majority of destinations. Several country-specific centres operate from other locations around Dubai.
Check the Operator Before You Book
This is where appointments get wasted. Not every destination uses VFS Global.
- VFS Global handles Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and many others in the UAE
- TLScontact handles France — its centre is in Al Quoz, Dubai
- BLS International handles some destinations, including Spain
- Certain destinations are handled directly by the consulate
Turning up at the wrong operator with a completed application is a common and entirely avoidable false start.
Premium and Optional Services
Application centres offer optional paid services — premium lounges with dedicated counters, courier return of your passport, SMS tracking, photo services and form-filling assistance.
Two things to understand about these:
1. They are charged by the centre, not by the consulate and not by us.
2. They do not influence the decision. A premium lounge buys a more comfortable submission experience and sometimes a faster one at the counter. It does not make approval more likely, and any suggestion otherwise should be treated with suspicion.
Practical Tips
- Book the appointment as soon as your travel dates firm up; availability tightens in summer and around holidays.
- Take originals and photocopies — centres will not photocopy everything for you.
- Check the residency catchment. Some centres only accept applicants whose residence visa was issued by particular emirates.
- Arrive early; security and queueing take longer than people expect at peak times.
